![]() Attach the device that where you will store the Backup Image.ģ. This is for backing up my C: drive to an external USB HDD.ġ. Here’s the process I’m using with Macrium Reflect 8 Free (Windows 10 Pro 21H2). This topic was modified 5 months ago by LHiggins. I’ll be happy to add any additional info if needed.ĮTA – edited since for some reason the images showing are not the ones I uploaded, so I removed them. Should I uninstall Macrium and reinstall it, or is there some setting I am missing that will tell it where to store the backup? I even tried to have the backup file saved on my USB thumb drive – still the same message about the original file, even when I set it to point to a different path. I have also tried a completely different backup drive and get the same result. So – my questions – is this a Macrium problem or a problem with the laptop filing system itself? I have restarted and still get the same message when I try to make a backup. I also always use the proper eject sequence for any USB drives. ![]() However, that doesn’t seem to affect using the SD card, which makes me think it is more a Macrium issue. For instance, I just accessed that SD card, ejected it and plugged in a USB thumb drive – and in the Quick Access, that Canon 104 file is still there even though the SD card is no longer plugged in. That file is sometimes there and sometimes not, and can’t be deleted – just as the Macrium backup file does. That file doesn’t always seem to be there – but I also have noticed a different one that seems to be a “phantom” also – one from my SD card called Canon 104: ![]() I have also noticed that in File Explorer when my backup drive is not attached – sometimes that Macrium Backup folder is shown, even though it is not on the SSD – only on the external drive. New folder specified – still get the same message about the path as above. I tried to create a different folder to send the backup there – but it keeps looking for the original folder. It is the same path that I have used for each backup and within Macrium, I can see that drive and folder and the backup images – yet it won’t allow me to create a new backup. Today, when I was starting the backup, I keep getting an error message that says that the path to my external drive folder can’t be found. I have made about 5 backups in the past few weeks and all have worked fine. I am running Macrium Reflect Free Version 8 on a new Windows 10 Pro laptop. ![]()
